Historic Clarksburg WV Cemetery Preservation Alliance

A nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and Incorporated in 2016. Currently we hold stewardship of 3 cemeteries, and provide services for several others.

1. The Former IOOF Cemetery on South Chestnut Street in Clarksburg WV---Which is the final resting place of:
John Snyder Carlile, who’s known as the father of West Virginia as he was pivotal in WV statehood. 
Nathan Goff Jr, a prominent businessman involved in both local and national politics 
John James Davis, Father of John W. Davis a prominent family involved with both local and national politics and business. 
*****Active burials are limited to families and prior deed holders at the moment 
*****Over `150 Veterans of America’s wars and conflicts dating from the war of 1812 to Vietnam 
 
2. Fraternal Memorial Park in Anmoore WV
this cemetery was formed prior to the civil rights era and is predominately the final resting place for African Americans due to segregation laws of the time. There are several Veterans of WWI interred here who regardless of being treated as 2nd class citizens took the oath and went into service for our Nation. (No longer an active cemetery as far as new burials)
 
3. Salem IOOF Cemetery in Salem WV
the final resting place of numerous individuals involved in the community of Salem as well as George Trainer who Trainer Hall at Salem University is named for, there are estimated to be over a 150 Veterans interred at SIOOF ranging from civil war vets up to modern conflicts as this is still an active cemetery.
